Heroin Memorial - 2015/09/26 - Joshua Boschard - Age 30 yrs - Beverly, Massachusetts

2015/09/26 - Joshua Boschard - Age 30 yrs - Beverly, Massachusetts

Submitted by: Crystal Boschard - Sibling

Name: Joshua Boschard
State:  Massachusetts, 01915
Date of Passing: 09/26/2015
Date of Birth: 03/09/1985
Age: 30

Tell Us About Them:

Have you ever met someone that would literally give you the shirt off there back, sacrifice there hunger for yours, do anything to protect your happiness? That was my brother. He hid his sadness to protect ours and was a selfless person with a beautiful soul. I could go on and on about everything I love and admire about my brother but I would have to write a book to do so. Regardless of his faults he was my hero and I can only hope to have half of the love, compassion, and innocence that he had. He was taken too soon and missed every second of every day.

Tell Us About Their Struggles With Addiction:

Joshua has been struggling with addiction for the last 5 years that I know of. He started by hanging out with the wrong crowd, experiencing new drugs. It only took one time for heroin to consume him and after a short while he lost his girlfriend, his dog and apartment. My brother was in and out of jail which only made things worse. Getting locked up for stealing to support his habit. Instead of getting treatment for his addiction he was getting 2 year bids. Even in jail he was able to get Heroin. He finally got clean, only for 2 weeks but it was a start. He wanted to get clean, wanted to move on with his life and let go of the addiction. He was able to last 2 weeks even with his so called friends trying to get him to fall until one night he decided to give in and use "one more time". That last time took his life. Addiction is all to real and is an illness that will be a lifelong battle. We need to help and empathize not judge.

What Made Them Smile?

Family and children. My brother loved family gatherings. Our family is small but just to be around every one made him smile and when ever he was in the presence of children he turned into goofy uncle josh. Never cared what anyone thought and would always be that person with a bunch of kids "beating him up". He was a great family man and always came with a smile.

What Do You Miss the Most About Them?

His hugs. He had a hug that when given, you just knew that he loved you. The absolute best bear hug i have ever received.

If You Had a Chance to Say One More Thing to Your Angel What Would It Be?

I miss you dearly and wish that i was able to read the signs more clearly. I will always have you in my heart and am waiting till i get the chance to see you again. Love you always and Forever!!!

Heroin Memorial - 2013/01/24 - Nathan Taylor - Age 27 yrs - Salisbury, Maryland

NathanTaylor

2013/01/24 - Nathan Taylor - Age 27 yrs - Salisbury, Maryland

Submitted by: Millie Jones - Parent

Name: Nathan Taylor
State:  Maryland, 21801
Date of Passing: 01/24/2013
Date of Birth: 01/06/1986
Age: 27

Tell Us About Them:

My son was a charismatic young man. Quick witted and hilariously funny, intelligent and humble in the most sensitive of ways. Strong and handsome. Loved and deeply, deeply missed. We did not suffer my son's addiction as many families do. He never stole from us or did the things that many have experienced. My son's addiction came like a thief in the night and stole him from us before we knew what was happening. There aren't any words for the shock and dread that still haunt each of us who mourn for him.

Tell Us About Their Struggles With Addiction:

Nathan lost his finger in a wood chipper and never recovered from the pain medication. He walked a little on the wild side of things in his youth but I trusted him and believed that he would work his way through the obstacles and come out stronger. He had come out stronger until the accident. He struggled with pain and we talked about it just 2 weeks before he died. I know now in my heart that he suffered from the stigma of addiction and could not reveal where he was in the battle of his life. The drugs won. We lost him to less than 40mgs of heroin without evidence of any past IV drug use. It is assumed he had snorted the amount and stopped breathing and died alone in his apartment on the coldest day of 2013.

What Made Them Smile?

His smile always came easily. But if I had to describe his happy places; I would have to say when any pet showed affection, feather pillows, super soft blankets, new socks, music, his favorite foods, his friends, his siblings, the innocence of young children, a certain play on words or a phrase that could catch his imagination. He noticed things and expressed these things in ways that could make you laugh endlessly or stop and think about his take on it long after the time had passed.

What Do You Miss the Most About Them?

I miss every single amazing wonderful cell of his being. The way he held his shoulders. His essence, his eyes. Those eyes that a picture can never seem to capture the depth of. His mind, his thoughts, his moods, his peace and his poetry. His songs and his lyrics. How can I ever portray the depth of my sorrow and the sorrow of all who knew him?

If You Had a Chance to Say One More Thing to Your Angel What Would It Be?

I love you beyond measure and am so sorry I didn't know the depth of your struggle. Please forgive me for that.

Heroin Memorial - 2015/10/20 - Dale Hall Jr - Age 30 yrs - Jeffersonville, Indiana

2015/10/20 - Dale Hall Jr - Age 30 yrs - Jeffersonville, Indiana

Submitted by: Danielle Suiter - Spouse

Name: Dale Hall Jr
State:  Indiana, 47130
Date of Passing: 10/20/2015
Date of Birth: 9/25/1985
Age: 30

Tell Us About Them:

Dale had the most beautiful ice blue eyes, he could light up a room with his smile. He had a heart of gold and the hardest worker I've ever known. He'd help anyone, no matter the situation. Dale had 6 yrs clean & sober after spending time in prison for possession. But it was his saving grace (so we thought), it brought him & I together and for that I'm grateful. We had wonderful yrs together full of love and laughter. Dale loved to tell me stories of childhood, he was a full blown Daddys boy. They lived to ride their Harley's and dreamed of life in Key West. He was incredibly smart, had scholarships to college and dreams of becoming a lawyer. Drugs took everything from him, he sadly followed in the foot steps of his father who lost his addiction battle in September of 2013. Dale was determined to show everyone especially myself and our boy Bryson (not biologically his but loved just the same) that he was going to do better.

Tell Us About Their Struggles With Addiction:

Dales addiction battle started long before he ever even realized it, Dales father was an addict. His dad took him on runs, sold and used in front of him. Dale lived to be just like his daddy. He never realized that his father was slowly killing himself. As Dale became a teenager the experimenting started and the love of money brought him into that life. Dale started out selling and then began using, at a young age he married and there relationship revolved around using together and loved to lived a lavish life bought by drug money. While at work with an insulation company Dale was arrested by multiple agencies. He was sentenced to 20 yrs in prison. He had 5 yrs suspended, did 5 yrs in prison and 10 yrs probation upon his release. Dale was determined to live a healthy sober life once released and with me for a time he did. When Dale was in prison he utilized many programs and determined to show me he was trying to be better. Dale started by divorcing his ex wife whom he knew was an active user who had no intentions of changing her ways, he let go of his old life and wanted nothing more then our family and to marry me. Released in November 2014 he was ready!! January 2015 he followed his fathers footsteps and earned a great job at a local barge building company. 3 months into working I noticed a change, his anger was returning, the frustration of struggling for simple items in life was setting in. He remember how easy life was when using because the money never stopped flowing in. His old life and "friends" found him, showing him a life he was missing and could have back if he just started selling again. Selling turned into using, using turned Dale into a person everyone hated, including himself. He pushed me away and said Bryson & I deserved better then a drug addict for a father/husband. He ripped my heart apart, I tried helping but that only made things worse. I had no choice but to walk away, I kept in touch with his family in hopes we'd keep track of him safety wise. He would disappear for days/weeks at a time, living out of gas station bathrooms and dumpsters, couch hopping between random dealers and users. That life got him killed. On October 20,2015 Dale used that morning and sadly he began to hallucinate and that caused a scare to those around him. The police were called and Dales reaction was to run!! Dale running from the police got him shot, 2 shots (1 to his shoulder and 1 to his stomach) he died 30 minutes later at a local hospital. At 130pm October 20 my love took his final breath and left my world.

What Made Them Smile?

Dale loved NASCAR, riding Harley's and loved working out.

What Do You Miss the Most About Them?

I miss his voice, his comforting words of wisdom he always had on bad days but most of all I miss his arms holding me as I slept and kissing me each morning saying "morning beautiful girl".

If You Had a Chance to Say One More Thing to Your Angel What Would It Be?

If I could say anything to him I'd say "Dale, no matter what I've always loved you. Through the good bad & ugly we fought to make it work. Even in death I stand by your side, forever your wonderwall I'll be. I love you baby, forever & always"

William went by "Bj". He was an amazing human being. Had a huge heart. For me personally, he showed me what love really was. He has three young kids. He was an awesome dad. When he would play with them...or let his daughter put make up on him...Like it was only him and them in the world. Bj was loyal, and honest. A bit shy when you first met him. But when his personality came out..He was so funny. Oh, and he could draw...like nothing I've ever seen. He had many many talents. Anything he tried to do, he succeeded at.

Bj had struggled with addiction for many years. Had many consequences for the bad choices He made while in active addiction. But the past couple years of his life, he made a real conscience decision that he really wanted change in his life. He wanted to be the man, he knew he was inside. When he died, he had almost two years sober. He got some bad news...I don't think he knew how to deal with it. Instead of taking to someone, he ran to what he knew. And it ended up taking his life. One relapse.

His family, children, tattoos, BMX, dirty bikes, drawing, being outside...love.

What Do You Miss the Most About Them?

His laugh, voice, and soft skin.

Date of Passing: 8/7/2015
Date of Birth: 12/13/89

Tell Us About Them:

Steven was a very kind, gentle, caring person. He would help anyone he could but he could not help himself.

Tell Us About Their Struggles With Addiction:

Not sure what came first, the drugs or the depression/anxiety. He wanted so much to "be normal" as he wrote in his journal. Yet at the same time he could not deal with life. 2 weeks before he died he went to the local hospital on his own to detox and try to lead a drug free life. The hospital told him his condition was not life threatening so he was not admitted. He died from an overdose of multiple drugs 2 weeks later while trying to avoid using Heroin again.

What Made Them Smile?

Entertaining others, skateboarding tricks, listening to music, helping friends, nurturing animals.

What Do You Miss the Most About Them?

His friendly smile, warm hugs, and sensitivity to others needs. He always tried to be there for me so I would not have to go places by myself.

If You Had a Chance to Say One More Thing to Your Angel What Would It Be?

Heroin Memorial - 2015/04/18 - Doug Paul - Age 26 yrs - Morton, Pennsylvania

2015/04/18 - Doug Paul - Age 26 yrs - Morton, Pennsylvania

Submitted by: Ginny Paul - Parent

Name: Doug Paul
State:  Pennsylvania, 19070
Date of Passing: 04/18/2015
Date of Birth: 04/29/1988
Age: 26

Tell Us About Them:

Doug was an outstanding athlete. He was 6'3" and he could throw a baseball 88 mh when he was a freshman. He took our small school to the PIAA states when he was a sophomore and lost the quarter finals 2-1 and then in his Junior year he wan the quarter finals pitching an amazing game against a pitcher that had never lost a game. We were so so proud of him. He was a leader and was loved by everyone. He was a great brother and a wonderful uncle. He was always watching over everyone. He was the baby in the family but everyone looked up to him. All the girls loved him but he was a great boyfriend and had two loves of his life. He loved his pets. Trained his dog. His cat only liked him. That was weird. He could make everyone laugh and loved to play games. Hated to lose though. He would do anything for his friends and while he was sober he helped many along the way. He loved his friends kids and always played with them when the other adults didn't feel like it. He would have been a great dad. He melted all our hearts and we miss him so.

Tell Us About Their Struggles With Addiction:

I'm not sure just when it started but I believe in his Junior year he started messing with pills. He was kicked out of baseball in his senior year and lost his scholarships. This destroyed him and he left school for his last three months and got his GED. Then he went to Williamson Trade School for Masonry and seemed to be doing fine. Half way into his second year he was found with drugs and was kicked out. He then was in and out of rehabs at least six times. All the while he played semi-pro ball and still had lots of friends. Once he did the Heroin at 22 he couldn't keep it together and lost jobs, lost his beautiful girlfriend at the time. Found another beautiful girl and she stayed with him till the end. At 24 he was arrested for stealing a car. He had to spend 30 days in jail and told us he never wanted to do that again and he got out, got a great job roofing and excelled at it. He only went places with sober people. The gym and meetings everyday. He was sober for almost 16 months when he hurt his back and someone gave him a perk. That was his downfall. He wanted the Heroin again. Going through the addiction with him was terrible. We were so proud of him for getting sober and those past 16 months were the happiest of his life. Once he relapsed he couldn't stop and then he was gone. Just like that. We loved him so and always will. FOREVER LOVED DOUGY.

What Made Them Smile?

His girl, Jena. His dogs (Lucky is in Heaven before him). Luna was just three months old when he OD'd. He loved his niece Megan who was 14 when he passed. He called her every night just to see how her day was. His sisters made him smile. They were so close. His love of baseball made him smile. From Pitching, Short Stop, Batting and just the game itself. He once said it was the ONE thing that made him happy. His friends made him smile and all their kids. And he loved a good prank.

What Do You Miss the Most About Them?

Everything!

If You Had a Chance to Say One More Thing to Your Angel What Would It Be?

No matter what you ever did, we loved you. We wish you were here everyday with every breath. FOREVER LOVED! MOM

What Do You Miss the Most About Them?

I think I miss his smile the most. Every time he saw me, he would say "Hi Mom" smile and give me a hug. I miss that the most.

If You Had a Chance to Say One More Thing to Your Angel What Would It Be?

I would tell him that I love him more then life. Also know that I forgive any and all things from the past and hope that he is at peace.

Heroin Memorial - 2013/07/03 - Nathan McMellan - Age 35 yrs - Hamersville, Ohio

2013/07/03 - Nathan McMellan - Age 35 yrs - Hamersville, Ohio

Submitted by: Cheryl Allen - Parent

Name: Nathan McMellan
State:  Ohio, 45130
Date of Passing: 7/3/2013
Date of Birth: 4/8/1978
Age: 35

Tell Us About Them:

First and foremost Nathan was a father. He loved his son with all of his heart. He was a son, brother and uncle. Nathan was the strongest person I have ever known. He was very quick witted, funny and had the biggest heart. When someone needed an ear he was there, genuine advice he was there and would do anything for anyone. Nathan loved technology, science, history and absolutely loved to read. He was my oldest son and the center of our family.

Tell Us About Their Struggles With Addiction:

Nathan was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 1997 and had surgery in January of 1999. The surgery removed the right temporal lobe of his brain which left him with many deficits, and severe headaches and pain on the left side of his body from paralysis. He suffered with seizures sometimes multiple times a day. He was given pain medication for many years, had a nerve stimulator implanted for seizures as well as a pain pump. All this resulted in addiction to opiods. When he started abusing the medication they simply cut him off, stopped filling his pain pump and left him on his own. I don't know when he started using heroin, didn't know until I received his autopsy report 12 weeks after his passing.

What Made Them Smile?

His son made him smile. He loved being with his brothers laughing and goofing around. He loved his cat Sarah, she made him smile

What Do You Miss the Most About Them?

His sense of humor, his smile and his laugh. He called me almost daily and I miss that, I miss his voice.

If You Had a Chance to Say One More Thing to Your Angel What Would It Be?

I wish you would have told me about the heroin. I would have moved mountains to get you help. I love you Nate.
