Tell Us About Them
Jordan Gray Anderson, my daughter. She was born almost 3 months early at 4lbs 2.5 ounces, but came out ready to take on the world. She lite up every room she walked into with her infectious laugh, such a loud roar. She play competitive soccer for 10 years and could run like the wind, such an amazing player. She was also book smart, she got invited into the International Baccalaureate in the 5th grade, and was in the program 6th through 10th grade. She has a 17 year old brother, Dominick, who meant the entire absolute world to her, she called him Boogieman and always wanted to be called Sissy. She was vibrant, outgoing, kind hearted and would help someone in need without thought. She was my "miracle baby". She loved kids, with all of her heart, her goal was to teach or work with them somehow. She had gone back to college and was working on her "Early Childhood Education" degree. She glowed around kids. It was amazing to see her shine like that. She is dearly missed by many friends that she touched deeply through out the years. I am blessed that her and I had mended our relationship over the course of the last year after she got clean. She told me every single time we talked "I love you". That is priceless.

Addiction Struggles
I wish I knew when it started... She had knee surgery at the age of 15 and was given pain pills. I remember watching her want to pop them like candy. I didn't let her, but she tried sneaking them. Age of 16 things started changing, attitude, defiance, the mouth. By the age of 17, life was pure hell in dealing with her. She was hanging out with the wrong crowd, I didn't know exactly what she was doing. But at 18 when she moved out, I watched her physically and mentally change. In such horrific ways. I knew she had done meth, because I watched her lose 15 pounds in 20 days. By the time the police found her, she was a toothpick looking like close to death. She started using heroin when she moved from Sacramento to Manteca to be with her girlfriend. I found out one day when she showed up near death asking for help. Next came years of off and on trying to get clean, rehab and so on. She did get clean 1/16/2014, made it almost one year. New Years Eve was too tempting and she drank. The was the beginning of the end. Life happened and it was too much for her. She ended up using heroin again and it took her life. It was years of hell, pure hell watching her struggle with not only addiction, but depression as well. Not a good combination. Being clean and sober myself for 30 years, it was pure hell knowing that I could not fix or cure her. Many times I tried, trust me, I fought like hell trying. This is a deadly disease that has no care of your race, sex, economic status or anything.

What Made Them Smile
Her brother Dominick, kids, her cats and everyone once in awhile her Mom!

What Do You Miss
Her presence, her laughter, her loud boisterous ways. Her love for her brother. The soft side that appeared every once in awhile. Her smile with gratitude. I miss hearing her say she loved me. I don't miss watching her struggle with her demons, but I miss everything else, period.
